best dressed Queen

On Wednesday it was the screening of the queerest movie of all time “Priscilla- Queen of the Desert” at Da Capo in shortmarkt street in Cape Town. I received the notice from Gerard a guy I met through facebook ( if you don’t have facebook, you’re missing out!). I knew I wanted to go, because they said people should dress up in drag. The theme was “a cock in a crock” and  we all  know where that line comes from. So I call up my friend Caas or rather he calls me and I tell him about it and he wanted to go if I was going.

I wanted to go in drag, but I didn’t want to wear a dress or anything like that. I just wanted hair, make up and stilleto’s. Fortunately my friend Caas came through as he had all of these. So he dropped the stuff and I went down to work. My outfit was creamish heels, crocodile skin looking, My show-stopper Navy Billionaire jeans, a tiny acid pink T (shows off my waist), and I had the most beautiful black hair this side of the equator. My nails were also pink along with my eye shadow. I was a DIVA. So now we get to the restuarant where the movie is showing. It turns out I am the only one who is in drag. All the other people didn’t bother.

I came in and made as if  didn’t notice. You see,  I know what “theme” means. It’s boring when you tell people theres a theme and they don’t stick to it. Anyways we found a place to seat and we enjoyed the movie and the meal. It was fantastic. Now there was a lucky draw and a best dressed prize. So the guy announced that “seeing that there’s only ME who made the effort to dress up, I won the best dressed prize. I felt soooo great. It was so fantastic. I felt rewarded for doing something that I love!  The gift comprised of beauty products for men and a spa treatment. I am over the moon! I will pamper myself on my birthday 30 August with the spa treatment. Can’t wait! So sometimes it’s good to stand out (actually all the time). I am keeping the pink nails,  pink looks good on me.

After that Caas and me went to manahattan (the gay spur). It was fantastic because Sam was there who I met through Emily K all from the United states. It was his farewell back to the states. I saw the gang from UCT and so they said they can take me home when the night is over as me and Caas were there for coffee only. So I stayed while Caas went home. I had a great time there too. I was feeling fabulous, as I knew I was hot and everybody was looking at my beautiful hair. There were a couple of people who thought it was weaved into my hair. It was a great Wig. It suites me. Anyways we went dancing at Beaulah afterwards and it was great. The heels were killing me by 12 pm. I still went dancing though. I never took them off. I still don’t know how women do it! I love those shoes. Caas says that the more I wear them the more I will get used to them. Great Fun. I take my hat off to all the drag queens in the world.
