At church this past Sunday something amazing happened. I believe in God, and I believe in miracles. The service was not as ordinary as the past Sundays. There was a lot of singing, a lot of praying and more singing. We were celebrating Heritage day which is on the 24th of September. So we were celebrating our “unique” cultures and ways of being.
In the closing prayer the service leader prayed for many things. Amongst other things he mentioned South Africa as a country and prayed that God may guide us. He then proceeded to say that people must get rid of their prejudice and he prayed for inclusion. He said “there should be no exclusion in the church of because of people’s race, gender and he said not even exclusion because of ’sexual orientation’” I opened my eyes when he said this as we were praying. I was overwhelmed with emotions. I was so taken by what he said. I love my new Cape Town church. This took place in the multicultural service which is filled with black Africans. It was amazing to hear a someone standing in-front of a congregation and in-front of God, and say that we should not be excluded.
Amen to that! I will be going to church next week. I think I might have even found a husband there, even if he don’t know it yet!!
