reasons to love san francisco

When I visited San Francisco I was wowed by the city. It took my breath away and I am still trying to get it back. I lived with a loving family while I was there and they were so sweet and so good to me. So I have been there for only an extended weekend but it’s enough to make me want to move there. San Francisco is beautiful. Reasons to love the city:

  • The city of San Francisco has a great public transport system. There’s buses and trains and they operate 24 hours. So you won’t be screwed if you don’t have a car like in St Cloud.
  • There’s a real beach, not a lake, not a pond and not water held by rocks. I love the ocean.
  • San Francisco posses a very diverse group of people.
  • The city is beyond “gay friendly”, it is accepting of gay people and it shows that by a number of ways one of which is same sex marriage.
  • There’s the ever so famous Castro with numerous gay bars, stores and all kinds of things.
  • Because the city is so accepting it’s not unusual to see people of the same sex holding hands in public.
  • The city is relatively clean. They have a wonderful green initiative.
  • San Francisco has one of the biggest China Towns in America.
  • Pride in this city is month long.
  • There’s a gay flag in the Castro which hangs all year long.
  • No one is ever sure of people’s sexuality is the city. Anyone can anything.
  • There’s all kinds of restaurants, especially authentic Asian and Mexican foods.
  • Almost everyone in San Francisco is voting for Obama.
  • Parents take their kids to pride, so the next generation of San Francisco kids will not be homophobic (we hope).
  • Pride in the city is like a yearly cultural festival that everyone straight, queer or questioning can take part in. It’s a community thing, and not just a thing for gays.
  • The weather is not too warm , but not too cold either, the trick is in the layers. Almost like Cape Town winter.
  • The city has beautiful architecture.
  • My beautiful friend Emily lives there and that alone is a good reason to love San Francisco.

This is just some of the reasons why I love San Francisco. If you ever have the chance to go there, do so. It’s  very close to paradise.
